This year at CSEP 2019 we are offering two days of hands-on workshops for exercise professionals. Attendees will learn motivational counselling skills, expand their entrepreneurial skillset, get tips on networking and work life balance, and more! 

Join us in Kelowna, B.C. on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 for this special workshop series. Workshops are included in full conference registration or purchase a workshop ticket for $250.00. You do not need to be a certified member to attend - all are welcome!

Behaviour Change

Nicole Culos-Reed, PhD.

This practice-based workshop will focus on the integration of motivational counselling skills within a fitness setting to support clients exercise behaviour change. This is a half day session.

Participants will walk away with:

  • an understanding motivational counselling
  • a knowledge of applying motivational counselling skills in a fitness setting (individual or group)
  • an understanding and ability to apply the acquired motivational counselling skills within a behaviour change framework in a real world setting.

Building your Business as a Fitness Entrepreneur

Michelle Cederberg, MKin, CSEP-CEP 

This session is based around how fitness professionals can capitalize their enthusiasm, education and expertise to create a thriving business and brand. This is a half day session.

Participants will learn: 

  • How certain ways of thinking can limit your progress in work/ life and introduces new ways to understand and manage the voice within
  • Identifying and navigating your Expert E.D.G.E. so you can celebrate your skills and talents on a larger scale
  • Finding unique and creative ways to monetize your expertise through products and services that will help you find whats important to you.

Town Hall Session - Depression and Exercise

Dr. Guy Faulkner & Dr. Madelaine Gierc

Did you know that exercise is now recommended as a treatment for depression in Canada? The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology is seeking feedback on the development of its next Specialization: Depression and Exercise. Leading the project, Dr. Guy Faulkner and Dr. Madelaine Gierc wants to explore the issues facing qualified exercise professionals and their clients, to ascertain how to develop the best Module and Specialization to serve CSEP members.

Please join us for a one-hour session, and be a part of the foundation of this exciting new Specialization.

 
Effective Networking

Presented by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) Niki Remesz and Carolyn Gillespie

Strong networking skills can be a valuable tool, both personally and professionally. From building organizational partnerships to knowing about upcoming events, building your network is a long-term investment with great payoffs.

Life Balance

Presented by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) Niki Remesz and Carolyn Gillespie

For many women, balancing the demands of work, family, friends and personal time is a challenge. This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to explore a variety of strategies to add more balance to their lives.

  • Examine your priorities and what "balance" means to you
  • Explore key dimensions that can help or hinder life balance
  • Learn strategies  and collect tips to help you experience balance
